Okay, my alternator went out on me so I got a new one. Aparently the pully on it was bad so I attemted to shim it, that didn't work. I thouht maybe it was my tensioner pully doing it so I replaced it. Nope, still pushing the belt off the front of the alt. Took the alternator back and got a different one. Pullies all line up with the exception of the tensioner pully but it being flat and the tiny bit it's off doens't seem like it would throw the belt off. It's off around a 16th of an inch. My crank pully seems to be dipped in more on the inside than the outside (I hope that makes sence). Now instead of my belt coming off of the front of the alternator, it's coming off the inside of the tensioner pully? I have shimmed everything in and out and in and out and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've went with a new belt, a longer belt and a shorter belt all doing the same thing. I'm running out of money but I have no where to put it untill I get more. Any one have ANY idea what to do would be greatly apriciated. Thanks and this place ROCKS!

Your tensioner has no outer ribs on it, am I wrong that it should have them? I can check mine if need be but I am pretty sure it should have something. Is that the stock tensioner for your engine?

My tensioner has no outer ribs. On yours you should have them and your tensioner is also on top and mine us underneath. It's weird and I think I may go with an older set up if this doesn't work...

Yes, it started a day or so after putting my alternator on. I had this problem one other time and it was due to a big belt. But I've tried one size smaller and one size bigger than what I usualy have. I ended up giving up yesterday because I was getting rather frusterated and was getting "rough" with stuff and I would like to keep my Bronco in one piece.

If the belt is to big then it will jump right off correct? What happens if it's to short? Will it stretch itself out to the "correct" length?
