I just noticed that you recently joined... Welcome to BroncoZone!

We had a very similar discussion on this last month.

Here is the link.

Please let us know if it worked out for you.

Oh.. .BTW, please consider renaming this thread ... no power to starter

Thanks and good luck

Now I'm only saying this to throw it out there, but fact of the matter is that today's remanufactured starters are NOT what they used to be. I recently went thru 4 of them in one month and each one turned out to be bad within days. Had one that I insisted they test right there before giving it to me and it didn't work right out of the box without ever being installed in anything.. Two of the bad ones I had were victims of blown throwout bearings & one had a bad bendix. The one that's in there now is suspect, might have a bad bendix drive. Last time i goofed with it it wouldn't STOP cranking until I pulled the battery cable. Might be a bad solenoid but considering the track record I'm leaning towards another bad bendix. New starters aren't cheap but most of the reman'd units must be coming thru China or something. Once the solenoid was replaced I can't imagine why it would continue to cause any problems. Cascade failures of this type are reasonably uncommon, I know that info doesn't do much to help you at the moment.

I'm not sure if there is a fuse in that circuit, perhaps one is blown?

Also, is it possible that you reversed the wires to the Bat, and the Start terminals when you installed the solinoid?

Just a thought,

Good luck,

Please let us know how you make out.

lol joe, crazy not stupid ,
That reminds me...

This guy got a flat on the side of a dark road miles from town, and beside a creek.

Oh... right next to an insane asylum.

So this guy gets his bumper jack out of the trunk, jacks up his car (not a Bronco) and takes the wheel off. He puts all of the lug nuts in the hub cap to keep them together.

This activity attracted a couple of the patients to the fence to watch what was going on. Just then, he inadvertently kicked the hubcap and its lugnuts into the creek.

Here he was SOL without a cell phone to call for help and not knowing what to do.

One of the patients suggested that he take one nut off of each of the other three tires, use them to attach the spare and ride gently into town and buy a few more.

AMazed the driver of the non-Bronco vehicle said... "That's a great idea!!! What are YOU doing in there?"

The patient simply stated... "I'm Crazy... NOT STUPID!!!"

Have a good night... I hope you get yur truck runnin as it should tomorrow.

joe

Oh.. and yeah.. when speaking of a fuse, I wasn't referring to those big fat cables coming from the battery :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm not a mechanic either. Both of my brothers are Union carpenters by trade. All four of us are crazy at one time or another (including my Dad) but none of us are stupid, (unless you ask our wives). :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I just spoke with one of my son's friends who is a young mechanic. He said that IF one was to cross the wires going to the solenoid that it could ruin the soleniod. I don't know... I am just telling you what he said. IF you read through the threads I pointed you to earlier, and use a volt-meter, you should be able to troubleshoot your problem.

Let us know how you make out.

Oh man... that's funny, I literally Laughed Out Loud.

I was thinking that this is a learning experience he will never forget, then I got to thinking... there's a lesson in here for all of us.

Well anyway, I am glad you got it fixed on a Friday, so that you have all weekend to enjoy it.

Be well,

joe

ok, i know this is an old thread and pardon my ignorance, but how do you jump the solenoid with a ***** driver? do you take off a wire and touch the metal tab that's exposed? i'm trying to crank mine and all i'm getting is a click.
