I have an 87 Bronco that needs a front drive shaft. My question is what years will have the same drive shaft and as far as a 4WD F150....could I use the shaft off of it? I found and old F150 4WD with the shaft still on it...not exactly sure what year it is...but its the 80-86 body style but the shaft and the transfer case and all look identical to my 87 bronco. Im also trying to get the steel wheels off the truck as well...were 80-86 F150's 5 x 5.5 as well? Thanks

What tranny does your 87 have C6 or AOD ? If the F150 has the same tranny the driveshaft will fit and the only reason for the concern on what tranny is the C6 is a different length than the AOD and that will affect the shaft length There was a T case change in 87 as well it looks the same because its aluminum but there are some changes like shift shaft linkage length and the rear output splines also where the 4X4 and 4 LO indicator switch are located . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Beats the heck outta me. All I know is its a manual 4-Speed. Is there somewhere on the body that can tell me? Forget the door jam sticker...its been repainted and no longer has that sticker.

Oh and....the F150 is a manual 4 speed....the shifter for the tranny and the shifter for the 4H 4L and 2H look exactly the same on the inside....same position and same boots etc...

OHHHHH I thought you had an auto tranny with the manuals I dont know how many they used Im not a manual fan . If they look idesntical then it should be fine maybe measure the tranny from the bellhousing to where the transfercase mounts up if there the same length then you wont have to mess with the driveshafts . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

your best bet is to measure your driveshaft from u-joint to u-joint at ride height, then measure the shaft on the other f-150. it couldnt hurt to measure the length of the trans either, from bellhousing to tail housing. that will be the true telling source of info. concerning the actual trans you have, i would venture to say its either an M5OD or T-18. i could be wrong though
