Extended Drive Shaft for lifted truck

So I just picked up my ride. Previous owner installed a brand new 4" lift with nitro grapplers. Anyway, he noted that only thing he didn't do was l, that he would recommend if serious about off roaring, is a longer, he said about 3", drive shaft because the other is stretching a bit. So here are my questions.

1. Am I looking for a whole new drive shaft, from the transmission to the, whatever you call it, on the rear axle or am I looking for only the front half. (I know stupid, I am new to this kind of stuff but I want to learn).

I heard from a buddy that by lifting the truck it throws off the angle ofth gears(?) In the, whatever you call it, on the rear axle. He said they won't fit together as designed and over time will wear out.

2. Is he for real? If so what are my options.

Stop at your local driveline shop. They will show you how to measure the shafts.

They can cut, lengthen, & balance them if necessary. Usually much cheaper than new shafts.

(assuming you don't need new U-joints) 

That angle at the rear end differential yoke is important. That can be corrected with wedge shaped blocks

between the spring & the axle tube purches. The wedges cause the whole axle to rotate so as to

decrease the angle.   NOTE: Too much angle causes vibration & wear.

If the "lift" was done with 4" blocks.., then the driveline shop may have other methods to correct that angle.
