I have an 88' Bronco 2 automatic and it has a very odd problem.

Some time out of the blue when i try to start it will crank for somewhere between 15 to 40 seconds before it will finally turn over, then once i get it turned over and hit the gas it will stall unless i figit with the pedel.

If anyone has had these problems or knows any thing about it or has any suggestions pls tell me A.S.A.P.

I don't have a bronco 2 nor do I have a reference book for one, but I am guessing that in '88 they were fuel injected, and not carbed, right?

You should put specifics about your truck into your sig file (which you can locate by using "my controls") this way we can give more specific advice.

So it is hard to start, and then often stalls.

Really it could be lot of things. Could be a clogged fuel filter, a flaky fuel pump, somewhere in the computer controlled fuel and/or ignition system.

When was the last time you gave it a tuneup?

Cap rotor plugs, and air filter?

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

DO you have access to a fuel pressure guage so that you could test the pump?

An 88' should be fuel injected. 84' & 85' had the carb'd 2.8 but 86-90 had the injected 2.9.

First thing *I'D" look at would be the fuel pressure, after that ck your spark.
