If i just go from headers to my cat then to my muffler and out will it work? I was gonna use HEDMAN HEADERS with a DYNATECH POWERCAT catalytic converter and a FLOWMASTER SUPER 40 MUFFLER with 2.5 in and 2.5 out with offsets on the same side. How does that sound?

I that two complete runs or are you bringing it together ahead of the cat? If it is seperate runs, can't see why not.

Are you lifting the truck?

Cats need to be fairly close to the engine for them to reach light off temperature. So if you are using cats, you probably should use shorty headers that go directly into the cats.

The pipes should be in the range of 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" all the way from header to tail pipe. It is also recommended that you use either an X or H pipe to balance the exhaust system and improve engine performance.

Good luck,

:)>-

Well on my 89 I have a set of full length headman headers that run back to 2 center in offset out 2.5 flowmaster 40 series and from there 2.5 inch pipe all the way out back . Sounds really good but Im tellin ya that if your local law enforcement has no sence of humor about the obnoxious crackle that comes from the 40,s while your standing on the gas pedal I wouldnt put 40 series on it id go with the 50 series for a little more tone control . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That's a conditional OK. Technically it is OK, and if you pass emissions I guess it's OK. I assume that you have a functioning Thermactor system, and that you are going to feed air to both cats. If everything is functioning properly it should pass emissions testing, they do that in your area. If you select some mellow toned mufflers that will pass noise ordenances they should be OK with the police. Yah, OK is conditional on what laws you have to live with  .

Good Luck,

Duals are not nessary, but improve sound, the promblem with 4x4's is clearing the transfer case. the bends nessary to clear the transfer case with 2.5" pipe(even with a body lift) negate duals.

I am currently working on a complete Mustang conversion, on my '89 EB Bronco(MAF, 393 ci, C6) and am still stumped on "straight back duals.

As much as I hate to say it, Camaro, and Firebirds have a single exhaust into two, and still produce more torque than ford.

The most important matter is "GREEN". Keep the CATS no matter what the outcome, or laws. We have to think about the future of our decendants.

Lifting the truck has nothing to do with the exhaust configuration you choose. Duals present a problem if the truck doesn't have a fairly high lift. If lifted high enough you can run down both sides, there are pictures in the gallery of guys that have done this. A single exhaust system is easier to deal with since you can pt a stock exhaust system on with a nice mellow toned muffler and you don't have to deal with expensive custom piping. I replaces my dual system with a stock aftermarket system including a stock two tail pipe outlet muffler, it has a nice mellow rumble to it. The key is to keep it legal noise wise and emissions wise.

Good luck,

Check out Freaks Bronco, look in the gallery under Freak and then email him. I think that there is also a bloke from New Zeland on here that has done it. Any way you havae to be high enough to get them dwwn the driver sid without exposing them to being ripped off when off road.

Good luck,

Cops dont seem to mind dual exhaust even with straight pipes just so your not getting on it all the time in traffic or in town. Also i read in somewons post that it hard to clear the transfer case. The transfer case isnt a problem from what ive heard. With ford trucks you can do dual exhaut easily by running it between the passenger side fraimrail and the drivetrain. Also anyone out there tried out the 40 series? I am thinking about getting a pair.
