Right now i have a stock 302 in my 92. I have a cat-back system, with 1 single-in dual-out flowmaster. Great tone, but it just doesnt sound loud enough. I was interested in exhaust cut-outs. Any info on this product, good or bad? How will it sound, should i place it after the cats or can i fit it before? what about hp gains? also how power gain would a K&N intake make on my 5.0, is it worth its cost, and what price do they run?

Have yoiu asked your neighbors how it sounds? You probably won't have to ask with cutouts. Cutouts will sound like you have a bad muffler no matter where you install them. The muffler is what generates the tone. Try a different flowmaster series.

I have a Flowmaster Original 40 series muffler, Is there anything that would be louder? How much of a difference would, say, true duals be from what I have?

Not with flowmaster, according to their specs the 40 series is the loudest they make. Holley glasspacks maybe.

you mean no cats no mufflers? dang dont i wish it, unfortunately theyre gonna lay down the law here on no cats in about another year. Is there a site that lists states where thats legal and illegal. If i cut off my cats and a little while later replaced it with an aftermarket high flow cat, would the newer cat let it be louder than the OE one.

Cats don't do anything for sound, they are flow thru devices but a high flow cat would help get more power to the wheels. You get a slight change in sound with and without, but not much. If you have no emission law to force the cat a cherry bomb would be the best. My .02 about strait pipes is they just sound like a bad muffler unless you can get some tuned pipes someplace. It's your truck.

Most states have a cutoff year for testing emissions. For example in NY, for vehicles built before 1993, don't have to go thru the same level of emissions inspection as 1993 and up. That's according to my favorite mechanic who also runs an inspection station.
