so a few days ago my 82 bronco just died out of the blue. i was driving and it didnt surge or start to stall it just died while running. now it wont start, it cranks but wont start. i thought it might of been the ignition coil but it is not. i picked one up and still nothing.

Check to see if you have spark. Just cutting off like that is a symptom of the pickup inside the distributor. Usually it works until it gets hot and then quits. attached is a trouble shooting procedure for a Duraspark II ignition, which I believe you have.

ok i will try the pick up, how long do those last, i replaced it like a year and a half ago, summers here are like 105 degrees outside though. thanx for the instructions

Well, I personally wouldn't buy it from one of the chain stores. I'd get one from some place like NAPA. I didn't say change the pickup but it is high on my suspect list as is the ignition module and coil. That is why I gave you the trouble shooting procedure.

well it was the pick up coil after all, hopefully its not some electrical issue and it happens again. thanx for ur help.
