Can anyone tell me the best way to remove a 302 engine, C4 transmission & transfer case from a 1973 Bronco? Can I remove as a unit or should I remove each item separately? Any videos?

Thanks

Start with a notebook.., recording each step.

Remove the accessories.., radiator, etc. disconnect & mark wiring.

Remove eng. with support under transmission.

Probably best to remove bellhousing.

Keep support under trannie.., best to use a transmission jack.

Remove crossmember (T-case mount) (serves as rear motor/drivetrain mount)

Remember, the crossmember is pretty much the balance point at this time.

With it gone.., the transfer may want to drop (heavy end W/O support)

Lower as a complete unit. (trannie, adaptor, & transfer)

-OR- may be better/safer to remove the T-case first.

----- This is a short version!  Lots of things to disconnect like the shifter for one example. ---

Read the book..., when you seperate the adaptor from the transfer, roller bearings

will fall into the case. (easy to find.)

-------------SAFTY is "project # one" ...! -------------

Side note: with the Land Cruiser, it could be done as one unit as the whole grill would

unbolt & allow plenty of room.

Not the case with the EB.

The combo (below) is quite heavy..!!

This is a V/8 bell., a V/8 3 speed., V/8 adaptor., & a J-shift Dana 20.
