Also, can anyone find some pictures of a 351W intake manifold, stock? i'm not sure if mine is the right one. I have some holes in between the valve cover and the manifold right in the middle and can not tell if exhaust is coming out of it...

That hole used to be for the old choke stove kinda had same idea of an electric but used the hot exhaust gasses to heat a coil that pulled the choke open . 351C are the same way . I have an edelbrock streetmaster for a 351W and it had that on there I just made a plate and blocked it off . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

If this is a 351W with a carb and the holes are on the driver side beside the carb, then they are for the HCV (Intake Heat Control Valve). That is the intake half of the Heat control valve that is mounted on the driver side exhaust manafold. They work together and do the same thing as the old Heat riser that used to be mounted on exhaust manafolds except that they are vacuum controlled by a VCV (Vacuum Control Valve). They run a small amount of exhaust gas back into the intake for cold start and go. Within a couple muinutes, they shut off as the engine warms up. If they are not installed you will get exhaust gas recycled all the time and it will give you bad running characteristics when the engine warms up.

The attached photo shows them to some extent but they were not the reason for taking the picture so bear with me. You can see the IHCV just under the throttle linkage and the EHCV is just below the oil dip stick.

Good luck,

:)>-
