So this is what happened. Sat. night I bumped the ignition while still in gear, accidentally left key on. went to start on Sun. dead battery, jumped it, drove it for about a half hour, shut it off. went to start again, nothing, had to jump it, drove home and let idol for about an hour, turned it off and tried again, nothing. Now I don't even have power to lights or anything, not even when I have jumper cables on(not battery reads 12.5). I jumped the solenoid starter bumps(not the solenoid). checked at fuse box appears to not have any power. PLEASE HELP

Check the groung cable and all ground straps.

It's not unusual for the ground to get loose and show up as a major problem all of a sudden'

Good luck.

If everything works just fine when the engine is running then you have a connection problem with the battery. As previously stated, check the battery to engine block connection. Remove all connections and clean up the contact areas, check the cable condition.

Good luck,

connections are good, but still would have lights if ran after jumped. I can't even get anything to show electricity. I will try the grounds again, but I am almost sure that they are good. Thanks. any other ideas are welcome.

With the key switch off, and the battery hooked up, do you have the 12.5 volts on the battery side of the start solenoid?

Yes I have it on start side of solenoid. Doesn't volt reg only regulate the current from the alternator?

When you jumper it, where are you hooking the clips?
:)>-
I jumped from other car to battery. I also hooked jumps to my battery with nagative grounded to block and touched start side of solenoid, starter bumped. I then took ground off block and did it again, and it bumped again, this is why i don't think that it is a grounding problem. let me know if I am wrong.

Have you tried a different battery? Seen wierd things from bad batteries. It could show 12 v, but have a post badly corodded internally.

That looks like the cable or the connection to the block is bad. Take the cable off the block and clean the connection. You might want to do the same with the All the connections including the starter.

Good luck,

Should have at least 13.5 volts at the battery terminals, when idling, with lights on. Also check battery at terminals after it "rests" for an hour or two, should still be at 12.5 minimum and not drop much when you turn lights on for a couple minutes. Sounds like the battery has a shorted cell, that would drop the voltage to start below 10 volts, not enough.

i would also say bad conections or bad batt.
like everyone is saying here...start basic and work from there. if you left the key on all night...it drained the battery. swap in a known good battery (clean the posts and cables while you're at it) and try it. I had a similar issue w/mine where lights went dim on me and it wanted to die. if i put jumper cables on it would fire right up, lights bright, etc for a bit then go dim and die again. the issue for me there was i had a broken wire coming out of the voltage regulator (that i assume was involved in keeping the battery charged) because when i fixed that wire, put the battery back in, fired it up and it charged and held a charge and has been working good ever since.
