The brake light power goes through the signal switch AFTER the brake light switch.

It sound like you have a faulty signal switch.

You may be able to pull the steering wheel and re-bend the contacts in the switch until the lights work again.

What if one brake light works and the other doesn't? Is it possible that it is still faulty in the steering column? Does each brake light come out on different wires? Any help would be appreciated!!

Provided that your bulbs are good, and that your signal relays are working, then yes, you may still have a signal switch problem.

One way to pin point the switch as your problem (and eliminate any wiring problems)would be to use a jumper wire at the wiring connector coming out of the column to feed power into (I believe) the light green and dark green wires. These should be your signal/ brake from the switch.
