Alright fellas....

I'm having an electrical problem with the ('93 351, E4OD) old bronco. I went to start it up this morning before work, turned the key on and got nothing. At first I thought I left a light on and accidentally drained the battery. But then I realized that I had NO power whatsoever. No radio, no lights, no gauges; nothing. So I turned the key off and sat there for a minute thinking about what to do next. Then I tried it again and this time all my power was there and the truck fired right up. Later on, when I was getting ready to leave work and it did it again. This time when I turned the key on I noticed that the tachometer very slowly rose up from zero to a thousand and my check engine light was on, but it was VERY dim. It wouldn't crank and I had no sound from the solenoid or starter. I kept turning the key on and off trying the do the same things that worked earlier in the morning. Nothing. I left the key on for around two minutes while I looked at some things under the hood and when I went back to the cab, all my power was there and it cranked up fine. It runs fine once started. The only thing I've noticed is that every once in a while, the battery gauge gets really twitchy. Sometimes it'll jump all the way from 0V up to 14V. The battery is fully charged and my connections look pretty good. I know that this could be any number of different things, but I'm trying to narrow it down a little bit. Do you guys think it could be a problem in the ignition? Or a short? Sorry for the long post but I GREATLY appreciate your guys help.

I'd check the battery connections. Clean the posts, redo the connections at the starter solinoid and check the battery ground connection at the engine block by removing cleaning and reattaching it. Also there is a ground connection from the back of the intake manifold to the fire wall, clean and reattach that one also.

Good luck,

:)>-

Definatly clean all your battery connections, use a wire brush. And the proper post cleaner on the battery posts. Check all your ground connections, remove them and clean with wire brush then reattach. One that often gets neglected is the ones one the rad support, they come right out of the wiring harness on either side of the rad. Clean those for sure, and the others are very easy to see. If the problem persists I would assume that the problem could be in your starter switch located on the steering column under your dash
