e4od shift issue  so my truck started acting foolish lately. when i get up in the morning it does not want to shift into forward gear at all. i can back up all i want but when i shift it to drive( or 2/1) it just sits there for almost a minute or until i push it to 2500rpm which cause a massive ****. the last time i drove it the 2500rpm shift snapped the rear shaft :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> . when the truck is warm enough the shift problem is barely even noticeable. ive checked the atf and its the right amount and nice and clean still. any ideas?

That is the way that my AOD tranny acted before it went belly up. It just wouldn't move at all and needed to be rebuilt. If I remember correctly it has to do it the bands being worn. Sorry I couldn't be much help.

Three ideas:

1. change your fluid and filter, and while you are at it see if you have any sticky valves/servos

2. check to make sure the manual shift lever is properly aligned.

3. check for vacuum leaks and then

4. check for DTCs (pull codes)

Your E4OD is computer controlled; there are a few sensors that are important to the computer regarding the trans. IF they were malfuntioning enough to cause this severe a problem they should be throwing a code.

Pulling codes is easy enough with a little coaching, and it is free.

Like BroncoJoe said, the E4OD is computer controlled.

There have been several changes to this transmission over the years correcting problems.

First thing we need to know is what year is your Bronco? Please add your vital info to your sig line so that we know what you have so we can better assist you...

Please use the following for your signature line...

Year of your bronco, Trim Level,

Motor Information, Trans Information

Lift if applicable

Tire Size

Other information you would like to add

Sorry I can't help more with the tranny issue, but for the sig issue, you can go to "MyControls" near the top of the page, then 2/3rds of the way down on the left had side, Personal Profile... you'l find edit signature.

joe

BTW.. did you do the KOER test also?

I believe that one has more specific tests that would be more pertenant to the trans.

You preheat the engine and turn her off.

set your jumper wire and start her up.

After you get four flashes

you depress and release the brake pedal, turn the steering wheel 1/2 turn, push the OD on off switch, THEN after a single flash... snap the throttle.

Then get ready to read your codes.

FYI a code of 11 or 111 is a pass code.
