I just bought my 89 bronco, and the driver side seat moves around like a captains chair on a big rig, all bouncy. After further inspection I have a couple cracks with rust all around where the seat mounts in. I can also see where some idiot did a horrible welding job trying to stop the cracks from spreading. So how do I fix this? Do I have to get some new sheet metal and redo the whole area and fabricate my own floor? Or is there a specific part that replaces it? The seat brackets on the bottom are also cracked, and I can't find where I would buy the basic brackets. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I've seen both the floorpan cracks and the seat bracket mounting tabs broken in many Broncos. I re-welded the 84 Bronco seat bracket tabs like 3 times, but they kept breaking, especially the driver's seat front next to the center console. My solution was to mount aftermarket seats on to my rollcage, but I would suggest looking for used brackets in a salvage yard or from someone parting their Bronc/ truck. I also had the floorpan crack, about 12 inches long, under the driver's side rear mount next to the door. I hammered the metal back in place, welded the crack, and added support plates top and bottom for added strength. You can get replacement floorpans, and either weld or glue them in place of the old ones. Try the body glue like from 3M or similar brands. The passenger side had lost a couple of those inserts that hold the bolts to the floor. I just used big flat washers top and bottom to keep the seat in place. The floorpan on the Bronco is rather thin, and you might want to add some supports or braces of your own under the seats to keep the cracks from showing up again. JSM84

Very common, I had to have my '90 inspected for insurance, it was a friend of mine doing the inspection. He said as long as there are no cracks in the floor he will pass it no matter what the problem, I took it as a guaranteed pass, I went in the shop with him and him put it on the hoist, went straight to the crack as if he put it there, and said he cannot pass me. I was upset at first but his livelyhood is one the line so I could respect his decision, I tryed welding it and made a **** of a mess. He said that is very common in Broncos, he sees it all the time. I cut a section out of another truck and welded it in place, then he passed me.
