Does a '79 with 400 engine use an automatic chock or manual chock on the carburetor??

I have a '79 that is hard to start when cold. Does the carburetor for the 400 engine use a automatic chock or manual one? If it is manual, I can't find an in the dashboard chock cable.

Asked this way pretty much leaves a dead end - ie "Yes", "No". 40 yrs of PO = anything could B on there 2v, 4v, may B even the biggest 1v (which would B for low rev tq, just what an off rd vehicle might want).
