Howdy! Glad to find this forum--I knew there had to be Bronco fans out there, somewhere!
I'm getting older and more paranoid about safety issues and I'm wondering how bad a Bronco is when it rolls. Does the cab crumple like tissue paper? Are the people in the back seat pancaked? Mine is the absolute latest model ('96) and is still pretty much outfitted with factory equipment (or equivalents).
My offroading is mostly limited to flat areas--any rolling I'm going to do is likely to be on the highway.
So, what do y'all think? Is a rollbar/cage worth installing for mainly city driving in an unlifted Bronco? Are there any kits that won't impact the interior space hugely? (I still have nightmares of camping trips in Dad's Scout..bumpy roads...heads banging on the roll bar...OUCH!) I'd love to hear some recommendations if you've got any.
(I recently looked at the new Fords armed with my employee discount, thinking I could get something more economical and reliable than my high-mileage Bronco, but the new trucks aren't more economical. And they aren't as nice as the Bronco. And SUVs are silly. So now that I realize my Bronco is here to stay, I'm willing to do what I have to to keep her from squishing.)
Thanks!
