Hello,  have a little problem, but not sure if it is with idle, computer, or alternator.

I have owned my 1995 XLT for about a year now and I don't really know any more about it then it has 302 port fuel injection.

It starts just fine, runs ok, but when I shift it into reverse it will die. Most of the time, on the second start and second shift into reverse it acts like nothing is wrong. Then when I back up and if I let off the gas too fast it will die that way too.

Another symptom that I have only noticed at night and may or may not be related is that when I let off the gas the lights dim greatly the volt meter goes down a lot and the engine almost dies. I don't get any codes. Some say that the idle can't adjust some say that it can, but it might be something else any advice?

yo,

A common issue with No Codes is;

Filter Magnet; E4OD Kills Engine in Gear; "...works as a filter retainer; w/Ford PN and size; basically this is a magnet Ford uses to keep the filter in-place tightly into the pump; Ford pn F3RZ-7E290-AC..."

Filter, Internal, Grommet Warning; "...When ever you go to change your trans filter, Always make sure to pull out the little round rubber do hicky thingamabob. Lets call it a gromit or a seal? Theres this part of the trans filter that is inserted into the trans (a round tube that goes up into this hole ); Now the tube has a gasket of sorts that wraps around the tube ( kinda like a wide O-ring )It form a seal between the tube and the hole it goes in. Well what ended up killing my trans was that fact that the last guy that changed the trans filter didnt notice that this o-ring thing (gromit Or what ever) did'nt come out with the filter it stayed in the hole! He left it in there; & installed the new filter witch had its preinstalled gromit already; So what he did, is he (unknowingly) stacked two gromits on top of each other, Witch did not let the filters tube fit as it should. It was starving itself for fluid!! It was sucking air as well as tranny fluid! (in other words not working right) ..."

My 5.0 EGR Tube is connected to the intake manifold's exhaust passage and then goes to the EGR Valve,

BUT a Bronco 5.8 is connected to passenger side exhaust manifold;

5.8L EGR Valve & Tube

5.0 vs. 5.8 (EFI) Identification

Source: by Ryan M (Fireguy50)

Some excerpts;

"...EGR - They use different exhaust tubes to connect the EGR to the exhaust. The 5.0L gets exhaust from the lower intake, while the 5.8L gets exhaust from the passenger exhaust manifold.

The positive ID is to measure the lower intake

302 is approx ~ 8 inches wide

351 is approx ~ 11 inches wide

The 5.0L uses squared ports and the 5.8L uses oval ports.

NOTE: Engine idle RPM is controlled by the PCM and cannot be adjusted

The curb idle and fast idle RPMs are controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is not adjustable. A large increase or decrease in closed plate airflow from the calibrated level will not allow this device to effectively control the rpm.
