I started my Bronco (1990,  351) early the past morning and it fired right up, ran for about 10 seconds and died. It wouldn't restart at all after that. drove another truck to work, searched the website here for all the code info to see if I could try and fix it when I got home. I did the KOEO test to pull the codes (since it wouldn't start) and the check engine light came on and stayed steady for about 3-4 minutes. No code blinks. I could hear switches cycling under the hood so I think it was testing. I tried resetting the test wire to make sure I had a good connection and got the same results. Any ideas or suggestions ? If it would run I would take it to my local shop but it wont even start. Thanks

Just guessing, but it sounds like a TFI module on the distributor may be bad.  If it runs whenthe engine is completely cold and then fails as it warms up, the TFI would be my prime suspect. Either that or the pickup inside the distributor.  We are running a little handicapped right now since the guy with the majority of the documentation on the Broncos is out for a while due to back surgery.  I'll see if I can find a previous post on trouble shooting this.

Thanks Seabronc. It will not start at all. Just cranks over and there was a burned or hot plastic smell inside the cab of the truck right after it died. I checked all fuses and wiring and didn't find anything crispy. It is a new motor that has been running great for about 2-3 years. I will continue to check fuel,(I hear the pump running) and spark, next.
