Dana 20

I have a dana 20 I fixed to shift to front end only and so on. While I had it apart I decided to add the Teralow 3:15 gears. The problem that I'm having is it will pop out of low rear wheel. I just ground on the rear wheel shift rail and welded it so the detent ball would stay in low rear wheel but it pops out under hard pulls or just really having to work it to get past an ostracle. I have had it out twice doing more welding and siming the detent ball spring tighter. It works better but it did pop out again under hard load. Any Ideas what I can do to stop this problem completely without going back to orginal set up? I did remove the inspection Plate and look at the gear to make sure they was going completely mesh with other gears and they look great. Thanks Coy
