I just found a set of D60's out of a 2004 f350 for 300$!!! Of course i jumped all over this oppurtunity and am going to pick them up next weekend. Now i want to put a lift in the truck while im doing the SAS, but what kit do i need, a F350 lift kit, or a bronco lift kit? This thing will not be on the road much (i live in northern alberta where DOT is no issue anyways) so i just want a simple setup. I am looking for something that will give me lots of travel, but i dont want to be lifted to high. I'm going to cut my fenders back ALOT, probably up to the crease that runs all the way along the truck. Any suggestions on which kit to use, or if i would be better off just getting the coils and such seperately. Thanks.

That's going to depend largely on how you swap the axle. The rear is straightforward & you can just order a set of Bronco leaf's. The front suspension will depend on what suspension you decide to do with. If you use the F350 front leaf's that were originally used with the axle then you'll want a get a front kit for an F350. If you decide to go with coils (meaning you'll have to send the axle out of do the work yourself to fabricate & weld a set of radius arm horns onto it and use a set of 73-79 F150/78/79 Bronco radius arms) then you'll want F150/Bronco coils for the lift.

If you're looking for a "simple" bolt-up swap then I'd go with the F350 front leafs. You lose a lot of ride quality that way but it's definitely cheapest & easiest.

hey fordman

great to hear you found some diffs for cheap. just a note with those diffs though......... no one out there makes beadlock rims in the metric sizing that you need for those diffs. not sure if you're wanting to run bead locks on the truck or not, but you won't be able to find any

and just be careful of that metric sizing when you price out rims and tires.

good luck with the build. it's gonna be a fair bit of work ahead of you. gears aren't going to come cheap either, so i hope it had some 4:10's in it

Metric sizing on the rims? I thought it would just run 19.5's like my F550 service truck does since the front came off a dually. It's got 4.30 gears in it so i figure that will be good enough for running 35-37's for a while. I figure it would be a bit of work, but mainly just welding up brackets for mounting the leafs right? Should i get the leafs that came with them or should i get a set of 6" lift springs for the front and back for a bronco? He said he would throw them in for an extra 100$

The metric sizing you will need to worry about is the 8 bolt circle. Example, my diffs are from an 89 f350. My 8 bolt rims will not fit your new axles. Keep that in mind when you buy rims.

the sizing issue yardape is right. it's the circle around the 8 lugs that you have to be cautious of

instead of being 8 on 5.5 or 6.5 those diffs will run 8 on 170mm

so ya standard 8 lug rims will not work on those diffs. you'll have to buy rims specifically made for that year of superduty
