I'm driving an '88 I6 manual

Just went out and pulled codes and got a code 32 and 67 in the KOEO, and CM tests.

I know 32 has to do with the EVP reading low. I need to check it more thoroughly first, but are there any common problems that would throw this code to get me started?

Error 67 has to do with the Neutral Safety Circuit.

I was under the impression that was for auto trannies. I guess not though. Any advice?

Brad, in a manual transmission there is a jumper on the left side near the center crossmsmber to bypass the non existant neutral safety switch. Also there is a clutch lockout switch by the clutch which is jumpered if there is a auto transmission and hooked to the switch in manual. Operating the clutch closes the switch so you can start the truck. It prevents starting the truck while in gear just like the neutral safety switch. That circuit also hits the TFI module so maybe the computer is sensing something flakey in the circuit. Maybe the clutch lockout switch needs a tweak in adjustment or corrosion in the jumper near the center crossmember is causing this.

Try pulling the jumper, cleaning the contacts and putting it back together with some dialectric grease to seal out moisture. Also check that the lockout switch is fully engaged with the clutch pressed down.

Thanks Seabronc. That makes sense. I just figured it would be a different circuit for the manual.

I'm looking at this diagram, and the one coming off my coil is just a dead end. Not hooked to anything or terminated. I don't think I have one on the crossmember either. I'll have to check the clutch. I'm betting that's it since I have to press it nearly to the floor to start the truck.
