Does anyone know if 85 cluster can swap to newer cluster like 87-91 or 92-96 or if any other ideas. If so is it plug and play or do some hardwire.

80-86 are the same style, then changed in 87 thru 91

"-86 are the same style, then changed in 87 thru 91. I haven't found any vendor with a bolt-in or direct-fit custom insert for pre-97 Ford trucks. I think the curve of the 80-86 dash gauge bezel makes it so hard to modify that if you have something done it's worth hanging on to!!! JSM84 ..."

Here is another link to Setve83's information on making the modification. Note the requirement for the speed sensor in his opening remarks under the first picture. Steve is a very technically competent guy and I believe this took him a while to do but it can be done. I do believe you will have to also take the complete dash so that the cluster will fit properly. Oh yah, the door panels and trim around the window. After all that is all that Ford did, the shell of the truck is the same with a new front clip. http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/69150

Hey, if you are doing that, grab the cowl cover just in front of the windshield. It will fit on an 80 - 86 Bronco without any other changes. Those big slots in yours, let in a lot of tree ***** but the small holes in the 87 - 91 cowl pretty much solves that problem. It has the same hood lines as the 80 - 86 also.

Have fun if you plan on doing this :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

:)>-
