I am getting a 94 bronco soon. And I saw these chips on ebay and they claim to add up to 20 hp and help with the mpg. They cost about $2-45 and that seems cheap. they all claim to to hurt the motor because it stays with in the factory specs. Here is a link if people can give me their opinion, Thanks.

LOL dont waste your time with this heres what there doing the EEC depends on several inputs from varioous sensors to determine the timing and fuel injector pulse , What there doing here is using probably a 5 k trimmer *** ( variable resistor ) to intercept the input from the IAT ( intake air temp) sensor and basically lie to the EEC ans tell it that it is colder than it really is . What does this do ? Well cold air is more dense sort of compressed so with more air you can burn more fuel keep in mind I said more . Ever notice how your truck runs really well at night or when it gets colder thats because the air is more dense . So if you lie to the EEC and tell it its cold you get more fuel ( more air = more fuel ) and the adjusted timing curve to go along with it . Yeah you may experience a little more pep because of the adjusted timing but how in the **** are you going to see any mileage increase when along with this setting comes an extended injector pulse ? HMMMMMMMMMMMM well good sales pitch anyway . Will it hurt the motor not right off the bat it will however start to wash the cylinder walls and have basically the exact same effect of a carb running rich . Not to mention that the EEC will eventually freak out because its seeing the air temp being cold so the timing has been adjusted and the injector pulse lengthened but wait the oxygen sensor is saying its rich hmmm how can that be well lets throw the check engine light and see if the operator will do anything about it . If you disconnect the battery cable and clear the memory it checks all sensors at start up and adjust to given values now after running for a bit it will compare these values to known good values stored in ROM and once it decides that it must be a bad sensor the check engine light will come on again and stay there till either you fix the problem or clear memory again and start the cycle all over again . LOL hows that for long drawn out explanation of a con :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
