Hi all,

I have a 5.0 XLT and am wanting to put on a cherry bomb.

I don't want anything too loud, just a nice rumble and some noise. Is there a certain type of cherry bomb that fits this preference?

Thanks in advance

If you don't want it to be too loud then don't use cherry Bombs. Those are straight-thru glass-packs and will be loud. all cherry Bombs/Glass-packs are of the same design & are intended to be quite loud. If you just want a nice rumble go for something like a standard turbo muffler.

anything like a magnaflow or flowmaster have a good rumble for the big engines. cherry bomb does have some similar style mufflers, not just the glasspacks, but I haven't heard many of them on v8's so I don't know if they're what your looking for

I personally like the sound of Cherry Bombs, but you will have to put up with the smell and the smoke

I have the thrush on mine. Everything else is stock on my 302, and it sounds fine. Its not very loud for me. There's no gargle and pop, but its a bit louder than stock. I'm planning on getting rid of one of my cats to make it a bit louder.

he said he wanted a nice rumble and some niose...if all he wanted was loud and burly then yeah any glasspack... but for more rumble you would need something more like magnaflow, flowmaster, and thrush welded...not that glasspacks dont sound bad :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I was running the Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers on my 76 and had the sidewalls blow out of the mufflers when the engine backfired. Went with some heavier guage welded flow pro's that have stood up much better. I've also run Magnaflow and they sound great if u want a rumble.

My Bronco had dual glasspacks when I bought it, I ran them for 3 years and the guy I bought it off ran about the same. So I can vouch for 6 years of hard use with no problems

I would honestly love to see your flow data to back that statement up. They are straight through, how can they possibly flow like s#%@? Im curious to see this because logically to me it would be the next best thing to no mufflers at all.

ive got a pair of dynamax muffelers on my rig, i forget the model, but i could look it up at napa, they sound decent but lack the sharp bark of glass packs, or even better tractor mufflers, their like glass packs without the fiberglass. you should note though the dynamax mufflers smoked like **** the first time i ran the truck after a minute, it cleared out in about 10 minutes and hasen't come back, I can only assume that some residue from manufacturing was burning off.

I will give a nod to dynamax as well. They are most likely what I will put on my Bronc when its done. My buddy had them on his drag race Maverick and they sounded sick. Best sounding mufflers I have heard. (aside from the warlocks I have on my Comet) Haha

Ok I did the homework just for you.

Test vehicle is an 06 Charger RT Hemi.

Cherry Bomb Company:

Stock: 245.125 HP

W/Cherry Bomb: 245.165 HP

Magnaflow:

Stock: 287ish HP

W/Magnaflow: 296ish HP

Magnaflow is claiming 9 HP increase. There dyno sheet is hard to read but that is what I made of it.

Now I know that these number vary quite a bit but they are directly from each company's site. Looks to me like the Cherry Bomb is quite nominal. Do you think it picked up .04 HP because it flows so well? This proves my point as to why not to buy a Cherry Bomb! Thank You.

On a side note, if you went with the Cherry Bomb you would most likely save weight over stock exhaust but that .04 HP increase isnt enough to spend the money on.

cherry bombs do have one nice thing about them, it's easy to run a straight pipe though them and make it look like the muffler is setup properly, it'll be loud as ****, and if you go to a place like pepboys for inspection, they will be too lazy to try and figure out why, long as it aint leaking badly and passes the sniffer they really don't seem to give a shit.
