Whoa there Hoss. We need more info first. How big is the engine ? Any modifications ? A stock 300 has *completely* needs than a blown 460. What do you use the truck for ? Is it a dialy driver, weekend warrior of full-boogie competition truck ? What are you running for gears & tires ? Believe it or not all these questions are relevant when choosing the right carb for the application. Maybe it's just a wkend toy right now but you plan to step it up a notch or two in the near future and want/need a carb that will work now but you don't want to replace it next year when you start running it in competitions. There are plenty of good carbs out there but sizing the carb to the engine & use is important. Just as a general statement I've run several carbs (Ford, Holley, Edelbrock/Carter) and in the end I was happiest with EFI :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> but as far as carbs go the absolute BEST I ever ran was the variable venturi Predator. Granted they aren't cheap and they're overkill for a street rig but it's a damn fine carb. Other than that I have to say that in general I'm not a big Holley fan. From what I hear & reat the new Truck Avenger is actually a pretty good carb because it incorperates all the changes that you need to make to a *standard* Holley and boxes it up in one big expensive package (A std Holley will need to be rejetter and will require a set of off-road float bowls before you can even consider using itfor a truck, otherwise they die at the worst moments and just don't deal well with off-camber situations because of the stock fuel feed. The dual-float bowls fix that but the bowls cost about as much as the carb itself.) You CAN get a Holley to run well off-road, don't get me wrong, it's just that you wind up spending SO much time & $$$ on it that you wind up ****** off. Edelbrock simply bought the license to produce Carter carbs and them chromed them & stuck their tag on them. An Edelbrock *IS* a Carter, make no mistake about that. Having said that it's not a bad carb. It's better than the Holley right out of the box but it still needs work before it will work well on a rig run hard off-road.

Just my $0.02, I'm sure there will be plenty of other opinions.

ok sorry i did not provide enough information. my rig is sorta a combination of two things... i drive it several miles to go mud riding. during hunting season it will be driven about 30 miles one way on the road then it is off into the woods to thrash some holes. my future plans include leaving the engine stock pretty much maybe some headers and a bigger radiator and electric fans. i may lift it but no more than three inches. and should never be anything larger than 35 inch tires. so i need something that can get me to the holes and then tear them up. thanks for your input guys.

Always had good luck with the edelbrock 625 CFM electric choke models . Ive had them on a 302 to a 460 and they always worked just fine . If you do allot of mods where its needing some serious airflow then you may have to go bigger . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
