Have you checked the fuel pump cutt off relay it behind the kick panel on the pasenger front floor. Atleast thats what and where the problem was with my dads.

The fact that spraying gas into the intake allows it to run is indication in itself that you have a fuel supply problem and not the others you listed. Sounds like yoiu have a pump problem of some sort.

Good luck,

If you have an EFI engine, then you should have an external pump also. Atleast the FSB does.

How are you getting the pumps to run?? (are you by-passing the system and supplying direct power?)

Have you checked/ reset the "inertia switch"?

i had the same problem with my 1983 bronco, my problem was the fuel filter they had all kinds of crap in them you probably have already done this but if u havent it should replace them. Remember theres one in the engine to the carb and another under the truck, you'll find it just follow the gas line

yeah, you might need to check on some things like the inline fuel filter under the cab, because i had a similar problem with my 86 ranger, we checked everything and found out that it was the fuel filter under the cab in the inside of the frame. and maybe the fuel lines as well because if the fuel lines have a small hole in them you can't get fuel to the motor to start it but priming it with fuel can get enough pressure to start and run but not take gas as well as it should.
