So, I really need to flush my radiator but can not open the drain. I expected to turn the valve a quarter turn and it would open like any valve. No such luck. It just turns infinitely in either direction and does not open. It was never a forced turn, it turned fairly easy. The "****" peice that I am turning seems to be kinda like pvc material. This is my first attempt at this, haven't owned it terribly long. Any input is appreciated.

You are correct, the drain should open within 1/2 to 1 full turn. IF it just spins around and nothing comes out, the drain is likely clogged with debris or rust. The technical term is a "pepcock", with wings or ears on each side similar to a wing nut. A replacement radiator is the best option if you have the original, and is less than $200 from Moline or the local parts store. You might also consider upgrading to an F-250 radiator, JSM84

JSM are you refering to a metal petcock ? Sounds like megan is describing a plastic rad. i would grab the piece that is spinning round and while pulling straigt out on it turn it counter clock wise. location may make this difficult.

I've attached a photo. Yeah, I'm familiar with a pepcock, but this does not seem to resemble a wing nut. I nwas tempted to try pulling it straight out but did not want to do any damage.

Elmo, that totally worked. Thanks a bunch. It was rather easy and I feel kinda silly now.
