hey ya'll, i'm still in the process of putting my new 351 in and i've a couple questions. first, camshaft. I want a bunch of torque, but i'm stuck with the stock tranny, i think it's a c-6. And i could take some horsepower, where should i go for this cam? Second, how can one prelube an engine? I know you stick the drill on it, but thats about it. Does one prelube the engine with the engine connected to the tranny? thanks folks!

As for the camshaft, I would suggest something mild like an RV or 4x4 cam, nothing too radical. That way, you still have some vacuum to work with and can use the stock rockers and other internals. Check out the Edelbrock or Crane catalogs for their numbers.

When you assemble the engine, use plenty of pre-**** and then all you need to do is prime the oil pump. This can be done hooked up to the tranny, too. Change the oil after 500 miles and check for leaks!

Edit: don't forget to break in the new cam for about 20 minutes, too.
