Guys,

I'm slowly putting my '75 Bronco back together from the "restore" and have come to the place where I need to hookup the (C4) transmission lines to both the radiator and the tranny. So, I'm looking at these two trans lines and trying to figure out just how the devil they are supposed to be routed. The original bends in both lines make no sense to me.....but I know they came off because I took them off. Now just FYI, I did replace the original exhaust with headers, but still, the configuration of the lines don't lay out anywhere near correctly (I think???) I know now I should have waited to hang the radiator.....and will go back and remove it and try routing the lines from the front. But looking at the lines....they still don't make sense to me in regards to their configuration.

Can a flex line be used instead of the original hard lines? If so, what type of line would you recommend?

Thanks

I don't have an auto, but I would assume that they aren't high pressure lines because they are going to the radiator. That being said, take this with a grain of salt. You might be ok with going to rubber line or some type of flex line, but you don't want to be replacing it on a regular basis. Rubber rots pretty fast when it is exposed to hot & cold on a regular basis. I would get some steel brake line of the same diameter and bend your own tubing route so you can put it where you want it. If it is high pressure line (and again I am guessing it isn't) then you might have to go with a stainless steel line or H.P. line to run it.

Here is a place that makes fittings for C4 transmissions with flex lines. Seems to be a wealth of information. Also, do a Google search (ford c4 transmission). I think you will find out more than you need to know  . Or get some new steel lines and a small tubing bender and run them where you want to.

Good luck,

:)>-

While I re-used the original hard lines for my C6 auto, I did need to replace the short links of rubber fuel line using hose clamps. JSM84

I'm hoping the info should be the same between '75-'76. The line that comes off the tranny above the modulator has a 90 degree bend in it and it goes to bottom of radiator. The other line that's closer to the tranny dipstick, has about a 100 degree bend in it goes to top of radiator, with a 90 degree bend on that end.
