When I install my liftkit I know I will need some new bushings. I know the bushings are really important and improve the ride quality and all that good stuff. But there are so many different kits. So how do I know which ones are major players and which ones aren't really that nessesary? Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanx

Brad

Excellent question!!! I hope many people reply to this topic, because there is some debate on bushing types. I for one have used polyurethane replacements on many trucks in the past, and currently have them on two of my rigs. All body and suspension bushings, everything I can. Companies like Energy Suspension or Daystar offer individual bushings or complete kits, and other brands are available.

The poly's are not hockey pucks, they just do not "give" like some rubber ones do. Rubber can deform, dry rot, crack or be affected by chemicals like antifreeze or gas. These often last from 3-5 years before wearing out and needing replacement. Poly's are more durable, impervious to most chemicals, and can last ten years or more. I feel that the poly's improve the ride and handling of a vehicle, others may feel like they make the ride too stiff. Modern poly's are close to the same density as rubber, but do not deflect under stress near as much.

I recommend them highly. I have a complete kit from Daystar on both my 84 Bronco and 98 Z-71, kits purchased from Rocky Mountain Suspension.
