Has anyone built an EB from the ground up using parts only???

I am considering starting with a frame (maybe even a new one from BG) and building a truck from the ground up. I don't really want to cut a good stock EB and everything else always seems to be poorly maintained or modified in ways I don't like. With the availability of full body tubs, frames and other goodies I am thinking a "brand new" EB would be a fun project - expensive I am sure - but I am willing to pay some decent coin for what is essentially a new vehicle. I hate the thought of spending 20k to mod a 10k truck and still have to worry about what I didn't upgrade or replace in the process.

It has been 10 years since I owned and modified my last Bronco and it is time for another :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I have read almost every post on this message board and this is a great resource that didn't exist last time I did this so I am looking forward to the feedback and support as I dive into the deepend once again.

Has anyone done this and have any feedback before I make a serious foray into what is likely to be some serious brain damage :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks!

Mark

Outstanding post.., & what a great Idea.

I'm jeolous..would love to do that if I had the cash..! And.., FORD was on a path to do this..but never followed thru. Sitting next to a rubicon ...there would be no comparison..no matter what it cost you to build.

(meaning the "rub" would pale in comparison)

Glass or metal body would be a consideration...That (cable) TV show did a simular project.

A factory frame fr. a donor would net you a "title" but not really necessary.

How fun.!!

I am in WA state and I actually called the department of licensing and they said all I needed to do was bring in all my receipts (no doubt so they can calculate a tax) and they would assign me a VIN. I even asked about emissions testing and they said if there is any original part off a pre 75 vehicle I would not be subject to emissions testing - couldn't believe it but I'll take it! I might try and get a VIN from a wrecked truck just to be safe :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />.

I will be sure and take lots of pictures and try and put up a website with a log of my adventure in case someone wants to take the same leap so they don't have to make the same mistakes. One of the things I may do is catalog all of the parts in detail along with where I got them and how much they cost.

As I move forward I will post the progress on the forum and no doubt I will be looking for lots of advice.

Advice..., I would put all that in writing & have them (Mgrs.) sign & notarize.

If they're anything like Nv. DMV. ......they get promoted re-assigned, etc. & the next guy/gal knows nothing about it.

(as it may be a couple yrs. b/4 you return for VIN)
