Hey everyone this is my first post. I own a 1995 eddie bauer bronco automatic with a 351 i have a k&n fipk, dual exhaust, hedman ceramic headers, i will soon be adding a msd6 off road ignition. My question is what parts offer the best power for the money. I'd rather not go into the engine because thats major bucks, i'm considering adding a new throttle body and a spacer , has anyone tried this ?, is it worth it? I need some advice on my quest for more power

i also have a bds 2 inch suspension lift, 33x12.50 bfg all terrains on american racing rims

I have the same mods as you, but on my 88 with a 302. I just recently added the throttle body spacer and it really suprised me, it actually made a noticable difference. Ive got all the msd components sitting in the garage right now, wires, coil, distributor, and the 6al box, too bad i hurt my back and cant put it on yet. once you get yours in lemme know what kind of difference it makes.

but yeah, the throttle body spacer is like $80? and i think its well worth the money.

You are in luck man!! the '95-'96 Bronco's PCM is controlled by MAF, So any engine mod's that would work on a '88-'95 5.0 Mustang will work on your 5.8. The 15 minute Tune Up for 5.0 Mustangs is worth about 30 HP. Adjust your Base timing to 12-14 deg BTC, and adjust your TPS to 1.0 volts with the throttle fully closed ( use a true RMS VOM for this procedure), you already have the cold air kit, if it's the style that sits on your stock air box, make sure you remove the air baffle on the front of your radiator support ( it's a pain in the ass to get to, but well worth the effort), since your intake system is no longer sealed, you don't have to worry about the loud sucking noise. Also get rid of that clutch fan, go with a custom electric kit, worth another 20HP. Remember after any changes are made to your engine the OBDII computer has to be reset ( No, disconnecting the battery does not work). BIGBRONCO.COM outlines this procedure in their Tech section, or you can go to FORD and have them do it for about $150. Also I highly recommend a CUSTOM chip AFTER you have done most of your upgrades. JDM Engineering (teamjdm.com) burnt my Dual Mode. The 40 HP gain was well worth the $360 price tag. Lastly subscribe to Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, read all of the Tech articles on 5.0's, they apply to your 5.8 also. Good Luck.

I have an 85 Bronco with a 5.0FI with a 4spd manual, I know that alot of backyard mechanics say it doesn't exist, but Ford put FI in the later 85 302s. My question is why isn't there any aftermarket add on's for this motor? All the speed stuff for FI starts at 1988 or later. Are there any options for this early Fuel Injection? Or the chip?

I added the MSD Ignition and didn't get much of any power increase. Seemed to run better at idle. Didn't notice any increase in gas milage either. The spark plugs stayed clean though.

If I were you I'd add a blower! Just a few pounds of air will give 100 hp. Its worth the cash!

This is for BK85, since he is unregistered.

Like '86-'87 Mustangs, you '85 is controlled by Speed Density.

Read my reply to " NEED MORE POWER" '89 bronco 5.0. This will explain things to you in more detail.

This is in the Technical Assistance forum- 80 Up Truck and Bronco.
