I'm having trouble figuring out what is wrong and need help from my Bronco Brothers and Sisters. I Recently replaced vavle cover gaskets, intake upper/lower gaskets, and PCV rubber hose that goes to vavle cover. Ever since the repairs my bronco will die sometimes when I come to a stop. When I release the gas pedal and notice that it is going to die, the tach will bounce. If I catch it before it dies and put it in netrual and keep the RPM's up I can see and hear the engine surging. And without doing anything else than just keeping the idle up it stops and goes back to normal. It's happening more often now but somedays it will never happen. I haven't done it yet but I got a new fuel filter, PCV vavle, and cap and rotor. Is there something else I need or should check before I go further. It will do it at cold or warm temperatures. Tired of restarting at every stop! Any and all input will be greatly appreciated :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

sounds like something is either misfiring or getting starved. check all your plug wires to see if one or two came loose. also, look for shorts.

One thing you can check for is definately a vacuum leak especially if its in the intake . That little black box mounted to the firewall to the left side of the motor is the MAP sensor and manifold absolute pressure thats a very important part of the speed density fuel injection system . Even with the motor in tip top shape if its running and you reach back there and unplug the vacuum hose that goes to it the vehicle will die immediately and it gets this vacuum signal from a black plastic hose that goes to the back of the intake so any vacuum leak around the intake will affect it . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

In addition to what else has been suggested, I'd suspect the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) may be sticking or bad.

Good luck,

Update... I change the cap, rotor, and PCV, because I had them. Now here is a question, what is that cylinder/solenoid with the vacuum hoses that comes from the charcoal box to the cylinder/solenoid to the intake? I notice that the electrical connection was coming undone do to the lock clips being broke and it's postion. It must have been causing it to disconnect at times.
