Recently my '95 full size Bronco has been making strange popping noises whenever I apply the brake. I just installed a 2.5" lift kit and since then, the popping noises have occured. It didnt pop before the kit. I'm not sure if the lift kit has anything to do with the pop or not. I replaced the pads in front yesterday and popping is still present. I'm having a hard time figuring out which wheel it is coming from. Sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the front and other times it's the back. The shoes are relatively new and I double checked the lift kit for any loose components. My brakes work fine, it's just anoying.

yo w!

a guess from here; parking brake cable will pull tight & bind; it prob isn't released fully now\\ relocate it (bracket) or get a longer cable; doubt that it has enuf to adjust now

get someone outside the bronco and have en use a garden hose or tubing/gift wrap cardboad inner to listen n' track da pOp down.

It actully was the parking brake in the rear. The left rear brake was still partially engaged. I fixed that and now the popping has stopped in the rear. However, the front still pops. I think its the radius arm bushings that are making all the noise. Or it might be the balljoints, but it doesn't pop when I turn or when I hit bumps. It only pops when I apply the brakes.

So I replaced both the radius arm brackets and bushings and that seemed to stop the big pops. Now it pops softly when I apply the brakes and now my ABS light is on. I cant figure out what this soft popping noise is. Does anyone have any advice?

Admittedly it's a shot in the dark but my 88"is a rear-only ABS and I *think* the rest are as well. If the noise & your ABS light are related then at least you're looking for something in the rear end. Has the quality of the pedal changed any, does it *feel* any different since you started ? You said the pops went away & then changed in volume after working on the E-brake which is also a rear axle deal so again, that's where I'd be looking.

sometimes the slight "pop" you are talking about can be from the pads, although you said relatively new, might be the problem. i had a pop coming from my front end, deffinately was the brakes, only popped when i applied them, i blew the piston seal on my caliper from alot of sand and mud and went ahead and replaced both calipers... mysteriously the popping noise stopped so the calipers maybe????
