I have a 1969 sport, there is a brake warning light on dash, it is missing the red lens cover. I think this is wired to the brake proportioning valve. I have removed the switch from the proportioning valve. My question is how does this switch work inside the valve? Is the light supposed to come on if brake failure? Thanks for all info.

"..how does this switch work inside the valve?"

The pressure diff. valve has a piston inside it that has an "indent". When press. is un-equal.., the piston moves (to the weak side) & activates the light.

"Is the light supposed to come on if brake failure?"

That would be a bit late.... /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> It illuminates to warn of pending/developing issues in the hydraulic system.
