Just a quick question as to what could be causing this.I drove over a crub the other night not hard or anything but the next morning i started my 83 fullsize and the brake light was on.The brakes seem to work fine but theres the odd time when i press on the peddle and i can only push it down very slightly but the brakes will still work.Usually if i take my foot off and push it down again itll be able to be pushed further down like normal.

You might have a brake booster problem. To ck this: after you turn off the engine it should take several pumps to to make the brake pedal become extremely firm. Then imediately after you first start it, the pedal should go to its softer pwr assisted feel. There are many things that may cause a pedal height problems (hard or soft condition) this is just one of them. Air in the system will also cause a pedal condition but, if no one has been working on it there should be no reason for a sudden change. Your master cylinder will also cause a spongy pedal that goes from soft to hard or hard to soft. Start with a full brake inspection so that you may eliminate the common things. The most common thing to set your light off is low fluid level. Good Luck! ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
