I put one of the extreme power brake booster kits from jeff's on a 71 bronco (disc front, drum rear). Finally got the truck together enough to start it and drive it. Seems like it takes a LOT of pedal effort to get this thing stopped. Brakes are bleed correctly, fluid amount ok, new brakes all the way around, drums adjusted properly. Anyone know how much vacuum should go to it? Thats the only thing I can figure is going on.

So here are the brake parts I used. I made for sure I had the correct proportioning valve for front disc/rear drum. One variable I had was it had a factory 2bbl carb and intake on the 302. I had the truck running since I got it back together, but it ran really bad and never tried the brakes. I put a new edelbrock 4bbl on with a factory ford aluminum intake. Now I do have the booster vacuum line plumbed to a vacuum port in one of the intake runners, not to the carb base. Dont know if that will make a difference. Ill pull the vacuum line off and see if it makes a difference in how it runs.

This is fine.

Is it runn'n smooth with the new carb/intake.?

In some cases., folks think they got a complete bleed on the M/C but air is still trapped inside.... is this a possiblity.?

Those are good qual. brake systems you purchased.

Yeah, it seems to run smooth, not too rich or lean, engine doesn't idle up or down when I depress the pedal.

"engine doesn't idle up or down when I depress the (BRAKE) pedal."

That's a good thing.., as you prob. know., if rpm's moved..that would indicate a vac. leak.

WHen I did this conversion, I had similar problems. Turns out the pads had glazed over. After a few miles of around town driving, it stopped just fine. If you can feel the brakes working, and the pedal isn't spongy, and your sure you did the install right, then they probably have to run in a bit.
