How Yall doing? I'm from TEXAS! I just bought an 89' Ford bronco 302 and im getting massive oil leaks from the valve covers and from the bottom of the oil pan. I think it might be the rear main seal. Does anyone know if this is a common problem? And is there a way to find out if thats what it is?

What are your opinions on manual hubs or push button? Mine went out....

Thanks anything will help!

well the valve covers are an easy one, just replace the gasgets and dont over tighten them. as for the main seal, try cleaning the bottom of the engine real good, and run it a while and try to see where it comes from, the oil pan gasget would actually be easier. the rear main would require pulling the trans out. if its the main it should come from the inside of the bellhousing.

Another thing that could be some of your problem is the oil pan itself. Ford had some trouble with them rotting out on the 351. If this is your problem it isn't too hard (on a scale of 1-10 I say it is 6)

Good Luck

it isent that hard to take off the in take just the bolts in the back of the moter that are hard to get to. and dont for get where you took off the vacume lines if you get those counfused it wont run right. now the rear main seal that is the hard one

if it is a manual thanz it will be easer then an automatic you got to take the tranz out .then take the flywheel off and then you can see tha rear main seel
