i have a 78 bronco with a 351 m i want to put a 302 in itdo they make an adapter plate for the tranny of the 351m to bolt to the 302 and how far off are the motor mounts?000_0424.JPG

Just curious...what might be the reasoning behind that switch..?  :huh:

the 302 i have is just as powerful as the 351 but half the weight

The small-block 302 V8 has a different bolt pattern and motor mounts than the big-block 351M, so the easiest way to swap is to also use a tranny that has the 302/351W bolt pattern. Another option would be a 460 swap, which has the same bolt pattern as your 351M. Try a forum search, there's many posts on motor swaps. It may be true that the 302 is as powerful or more so than the 351M. but if you're going thru all of the trouble, you might consider a stronger motor if you want to keep the same tranny. Not doging the 302 or 351M, and the 460 is much heavier by weight. All depends on what you're looking for.
