efi to carb swap done on my 1987, 302.

which fuel pump would be the best bet?

local parts stores sells a mount to the frame carter, but is gravity fed and ive heard bad things.

mechanical is out of the question, no previous years timing covers will mate up. ive tried.

ive heard holleys burn up in a few months

there is a mr gasket pump at autozone.

i could use my in-tank pump i currently have from my efi setup

any ideas?

also should i leave the in-tank pump where it is or pull it and fabricate a manual pickup? i dont know if the in tank pump was supposed to run continuosly in an efi setup.

I just bought a cheap fuel pump kit from summit. 140gph at 14psi. Comes complete with everything you need 20 feet of fuel line, pump, filter, regulator and all the AN fittings and adaptors. Was like 239 bux or something. Not sure of the quality of the pump but I am buying a holley pump right away, I bought the kit mainly for all the adaptors and fuel line. I didnt care about the pump, if it lasts then great if not I will have a backup I just needed something so I can fire up the beast. Check it out, has pretty much everything you need. summit

Hey, YA, I bought a similar kit but from JEG's for my 460 swap. The Holley elec fuel pump works great if you're not buying the whole kit, but it's nice to have all the lines, fittings, filter, etc. in one kit. The cheaper Carter elec pum pwill work, and I would not buy anything from AutoZine. (Personal bias). All of these pumps are designed to be mounted below the bottom of the fuel tank, so gravity will constantly feed them, However, they will work using the stoc kfuel tank. i would not kee pthe in-tank pump, as it will be much more work to repair it when it goes out.
