Hey guys. I have this noise coming from the pass side front wheel assembly. It doesn't happen at highway speed. (not that I could hear it anyway with all of the road noise) It seems to start as I decelerate below 40. It is like a squeak/click combination, along with a vibration.

Yesterday I took the cover off of the hub, and the bearing ring fell right out. Being a newbie, I am not sure if that is supposed to happen, but it doesn't seem right. I put it back in place and figured that the spring on the inside of the cap would keep it in place, but down the road the noise started again. Any advice on where to begin would be most appreciated. I don't get on here as often as I would like, but I see all emails sent to [email protected]. Thanks in advance.

this might be obvious, but is there a spindle locknut present? that ring (im assuming the bearing race) should not just fall right out. if you're unsure, it can't hurt to go ahead and change your bearings. its a simple operation, relatively inexpensive, and you can do it in the driveway/garage

As you're a newbie, you'd better get some help tearing down the hubs and replacing bearings. I found Haynes more informative than Chilton's on this.

If that stuff fell right out, you have some serious issues, don't drive it another foot. Sounds like the nuts were not on properly. That is what holds your wheel on :-& . Do what has already been suggested and replace the bearings, 2 spindle nuts, and spindle lock nut.

Good luck,

:)>-
