hey anyone know how i can change the right lower ball joint on my 95 ford bronco. when i bought it, the guy had converted it to automatic 4x4 with the press of a button instead of having to play with the outside so what can i do to not pay for the labor of having the right lower ball joint replaced. thanks

First I'd go out and buy a Chiltons or Haynes or both. Then I'd look on ebay for a set 95 shop manuals. All of these will cover the proceedure for changing ball joints. You may be able to rent the tools from a place like Auto Zone or you could buy the tools. That along with a good set of jack stands and you are ready to go to work.

Sorry to see that you have a truck with auto 4x4 :(( , they usually end up failing and a lot of people on here will suggest you go back to manual hubs, much less trouble :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

i think he said that he had an electronic t case not my prefered either but the auto hubs are still better than the guys with the late 87 early 88 factory hubs but yes the auto sux as well in fact now that i think about it the only auto thing left on my truck is the tranny

any how back to the question at hand first off you might want to replace both upper and lower at the same time as with any suspension work once you start playing with one part its nieghbors get cranky and wanna play too

first lift the corner in question and then remove the wheel and caliper if you are unsure about the hub replace it also but if not dont go further without a manual if reeplacing the new one comes with directions remove it as well as you will need the axle free from the spindle

now remove the two (one top one bottom ) nuts from the ball joints with some persausion the spindle will now come off the truck

at this point i recomend an air hammer or torch with a good short handle sledge and large socket

drive the old ball joints from thier sockets being carefull not to **** them as the holes they are in are smaller than exact fit a good ball joint press works good but if they are stubbern like mine get then stick to torch and hammer install is pretty much the same in reverse but be carefull not to disturb the alignment cam on the top joint or you will get a new batch of headaches

after all said and done get it to a decent shop i recomend a chain store as the warrenty is ussually better and for that matter one that is AAA approved as you get at least a year warranty or go to firestone if they are in your area and spend the extra for a lifetime warranty

no i dont work for firestone and dont offer tis as any promotion or advertising just the point on thier warranty for life is a good investment with a bronco as the front end is prone to much abuse by those of us that beet the snot out of our rigs
