Get a second opinion...your sig. says "new 5.0"..??

Pull the plug wire off #5 &/or all the others (one at a time) If the noise goes away, or gets real weak, it's piston related (assuming its not a knock)

Alternators, fuel pumps, waterpumps, lifters, & fanbelts can also make "odd" noises.

its a knock. not many things in an engine can make that sort of noise, sig says new because it pretty much is.. its about 2 years old
