All right. I have my front end completely broke down and am about to start re-assembly. I have ordered Daystar poly axel pivot bushings to replace. Has anyone had experience with this? I am thinking that the current bushing housing has to pressed out in order to replace with new????? From looking at both sides they are pretty bent up on the flared side. Should they be flared or are these the signs of abuse. Any help greatly appreciated.

And there will be pics of this when complete. Everything on the front end and carrier is being rebuilt.

I suggest you consult a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for this repair. I did it a few years ago, swapped in the Daystar poly's, too. The apb's are pressed into the axle halves, and are a bear to remove. Some folks use an air chisel to get them out, but that destroys them. The manuals list a special Ford part number for the tool you will need. Good luck finding that anywhere. I had to make my own "equivalent" to get mine out.

The Daystar units I used were only the inner bushing part, so I had to re-use the metal sleeve. If your's are buggered up, I would buy new stock ones and cut out the rubber portion, or get the ones that are a complete unit. The rubber is very dense, and took some time to remove.

You will also need the special tool or "equivalent" to install the apb's as they have to be pressed back in to the proper depth, about 1/4" from flush with the axle.

If you do this repair with the front end still on the Bronco, you will need two jacks, and maybe a come-along to get things aligned to reinstall the bushing and the main bolt on each side.

This repair should eliminate most of the popping noises you hear in the front end when pulling out the driveway or crossing a ditch. It helps the frontend track straighter, too.

Thanks, that is what I thought. My new ones are already in a sleeve. The front end is completely broke down. I will try to force them out tomorrow. Thanks again.
