Ok, so now i feel a little dumb, I swear I've seen here on the forum where peeps talk about changing their auto locking hubs to manual but i cant find the thread. How hard is it? On my auto locking hubs there are 5 screws on the cap, on the ones from WARN and Mile Marker they have 6 ***** holes, does this matter? Any suggestions on where to buy and the best way to do this?

1994 Bronco Eddie, E40D auto, Manual Transfer, Autolocking hubs, dana 44 in the front, 8.8 limited slip in the rear

Thanks.

Jonathan

there is a kit you have to buy to change them over, on my 89 they just swapped right over but on 87 the hubbs are a totally diff design, what year do you have?

I'd be interested in doing this too. What are the advantages of the manual locking hubs? Is it true if you get stuck in 2wd that you won't be able to get it to lock into 4wd in order to get out with automatic hubs?

yo, as 89 advised, state year, engine/tranny type, manual Xfer case or elex, etc.; esp in your Profile..

for now, have a few swaps in my site

note that some tech articles have proper torque settings, while many other articles do not have these settings

- and a summary...http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6916&hl=

'94 5.8 351, E40D, manual transfer case, auto trans, dana 44 front 8.8 rear axle

That was the thread i found before but couldnt find again, probably because manual was spelled manuel.

Thanks!

for a 94 you should need the conversion kit, many local autoparts stores can get them from warn along with the hubs

The manual hub swap is easy to do and well worth it. I bought my Warn Premium hubs off of ebay for $90 shipped. JSM84

Well, as I learned the hard way (once and once only, I will NEVER do it again, I swear :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ) if you hit dirt or snow, or even think you might need to kick into 4x4, get out and lock the hubs. That way, if you need it, it's as simple as dropping it into 4x4 with auto hubs. The advantages I've noticed (and I say I, because it seems everyone I've talked to about manual hubs have different opinions and views, all good though) is that my mpg went up slightly and my turning is a little easier. Plus, these have a lot less chance to leave me stuck in/out of 4x4 or with one locked and the other unlocked. Oh, and you can always say you got Warns and that's ******** points there anyway. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Good choice, maybe post some pics and a write-up when you install those. JSM84

If you have five screws in your original hubs, you should not need the "conversion kit". Only the autolockers that had 3 screws require the conversion kit. The swap is a piece of cake and (in my opinion) well worth the $80-$90. Here is some information that comes with the hubs and conversion kits. Even though you probably don't need the conversion kit, it has a very good "exploded view" diagram of all the parts so you get an idea of whats in there.
