At first I thought my PS pump was going out, but I finally realized that my front ECTED is not unlocking. (With my hubs unlocked, the Bronco steers easily, but with the hubs locked in, it is impossible to steer, even in 2WD.)

Is there a trick to getting these unlocked? I've tried backing up, turning the wheels, 2WD, 4WD, etc. I'm out of ideas. Is the locker shot already? I probably have less than 1000 miles on it.

Hard to wrap my head 'round this...?

I can't help--sorry-- but totally curious why an electromagnet won't release. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have this figured out mechanically, but I don't have the warranty figured out yet. I'll keep you posted.

Supposedly this is a common problem. When you shift on the fly (which the manual says is OK), the steel balls that lock the differential overextend their travel and get in a bind.

No parts actually break. I was able to remove the carrier and take it apart (ring gear, clutch packs, spider gears, the whole 9 yards.) It now works. I don't want to have to do this again, so I won't be shifting on the fly anymore.

The vendor I bought it from said if it happens again, I should be able to return it to get my money back.

It's in and working now, so I'm just going to see what happens.
