The total automatic transmission fluid (ATF) capacity of the C4 transmission in a Mustang & other auto applications is about 8 quarts. ATF capacity is a function of both the transmission case and the torque converter. The 2 wheel drive, three speed Bronco may have had a different torque converter than passenger cars and the Mustang, leading to a different total ATF capacity for the Bronco.
Does anyone here know the ATF capacity of the transmission & torque converter behind the 2 wheel drive, three speed, 1973 Bronco?
Also, it seems possible that the fill tube for the Bronco was a different length than the "normal" Mustang & passenger car fill tube, and that the Bronco version of the C4 transmission had a different dipstick than would be used in a passenger car. Any idea if that is the case?
