Looks like my tranny sprang a leak. Does anybody know the oil seal p/n? Also - Can this seal be replaced from the outside and is there a special tool required?
Thanks in advance for any tips or advice you may offer!
"I bought the seal 4 years ago and had a look when I had the pan off changing the internal trans filter;
See the shaft at the far right of the photo ? Nearly halfways up ? That's the shaft it's gotta go on. I thought about removing the outer linkage, but it didn't seem like that was enough, but I'm no expert.
I've been well into a 727, but this job looked too ugly for me. One of those jobs where I could well F#@& it up so bad a slightly wet seal and a once a week drip would seem like nuthin'.
Here's a pic of the toothed plate it runs through, if you want to print these off and take the pics to a trans shop for an estimate;
Tell em' you want an internal filter change "and {yawn} while you're in there, how's about changing this?".
My leak never got worse, so I'm livin' with it until you pioneer this one for the rest of us
.
Hope that's some kinda help, good luck"

"I had to replace mine 3 months ago. I got mine from a transmission shop here in Orlando. Here's the number if you want call them. There are actually 2 seals on that shaft. One is for the TV Valve & the other is for the shaft. Alternative Transmission - 407-877-3664, maybe they will mail you one or can give you a correct part#. I went in & told the guy I needed the shaft & TV seals for an AOD & brought them back within a minute - knew exactly what I needed." by MrWP819300 ...
