Hey all. Anyone have an aftermarket camshaft in their 92-96 bronco?

Ive been looking at getting some extra punch out of my truck. I looked and found a nice lopy camshaft called the e303. But will that work with SD? Also its a hydraulic flat tappit. Can those be used in these roller blocks? Any info would be great. If you guys have any cams that you like or want let me know. Ideas ideas ideas! Thankyou all :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

This could be a stupid question lol...

I went onto summitracing, typed in my model, engine style, engine year, and i found this camshaft...

Seams like its pretty good for low end torque still, better throttle response as well, and it will still lope with a 110 LSA..

Yes... No... Maby?.... LOL

you definitely need a computer controlled cam...but as far as flat tappit working on hyrdo roller no it will not work....i was running a b303 (computer controlled) in one of my old broncos and i loved that cam nice little lope to it plenty of power....your best route IMO would be do heatriser on the intake and throttle body spacer that will give you little more power plus little better gas mileage...not sure how concerned about that you are...you also can go as far as getting into headers, and dual exhaust which will also help you out with adding power.

Thanks for the help. Im not a fan of TB spacers.. I already have SVT lightning shories and a fully custom exhast, No cats, 2 and a half inch pipe, and a 40 series. Not sure if i could get much better than that.

Roller cams are pretty expensive... I think il just leave the motor alone for now and get some aftermarket add ons to the suspension or body :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yea the e303 cams only work if i convert to MAF. They messed up saying they converted to speed density. I thought that sounded way wrong...

I found a cam that i might purchase. Crane 444221 camshaft. Kinda going blind here because i dont know what this cam will do for my truck. Number seam pretty stout.

With the new timing chain cover gaskets and new intake gaskets il be around 235 bucks shipped. Im a little nervous about the rocker arms and tightening those when everything is back together...

You can use a flat tappit cam in a roller block. Just take off my intake and you'll see. Alot of people frown on this because a roller cam is "so much better" but the little bit of gain doesn't make me enjoy $300+ for the roller. I'm running a Crane Compucam and the link is http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...mp;autoview=sku and I enjoy it. I also run the SD and I have an Edlebrock Performer intake, twin 56MM t-body, BBK adj. fuel regulator, Flowtech shorties and true dual exhaust with no cats. I also have no emissions on the truck (got it that way). I do have a set of 1.7 Crane Cam pedistool mounted roller rockers though. In order to run a flat tappit cam you do need to get longer pushrods. If I had the box still I would get the number but I'm flat on my face on that one.

Not posotive your pistons will clear the lift on this cam. Also, I'm pretty sure your springs wont hold the lift either so you'll need thoes. Rocker arms aren't that bad. While the intake is off put it together. Get them to 0 lash and do the torque on them and make sure that's in specs. I belive my roller rockers were 18 or 20 ft lbs between 90* and 360* of rotation after 0 lash. After you get them to spec make sure you can spin your pushrods fairly easily. You have to spin the engine and get all pistons at TDC for it to work "correctly." It's more time consuming than anything. Also, you don't want to run a lot of cam without adressing the heads. If they wont flow what the cam is trying to flow then the cam is worthless. Same with the intake and exhaust but you seem to have the exhast side clear.

try isky, i got their step above an RV cam. I should of got it but I wanted more power in the upper rpm range. itworked out great for my cam swap. and the engine computer does just fine with the speed density. http://iskycams.com/productdisplay.php?pro...1&dealer=no

i did install their valve springs, and i had to order different pushrods as you will be installing a camshaft for a 5.0ho motor. (same setup.winsor motor) if i remember i went .035in. longer on the pushrods cant be positive though. i also ordered new lifters from jegs. fordracing stock replacements is all you need.
